Welcome to the F.A.Q., short for Frequently Asked Questions. This page will be dedicated to answering those inquiries that we see come up time and time again. We'll update occasionally, and hopefully will set up a system where we can have questions emailed in, and answered here. This page was most recently updated in January of 2007. Until then, enjoy what has been posted, and check back soon! ~the Management

The most commonly asked question: Is Adam Available for commissions?

No. At this time, Adam is still not available to take new commissions.

The second most commonly asked question: Is there a list I can put my name on for when Adam begins to take commission request again?

No. Adams work schedule right now consists of his cover obligations to Catwoman, and the writing , drawing and inking of All Star Wonder Woman. Adam will not be considering the option of taking commission requests until at least 2009, after All Star Wonder Woman is completed, and all old outstanding commissions have also been completed.

What tools does Adam use?
To pencil, Adam will use a lead holder with 6B lead in it. He'll vary that hardness a little, depending on humidity. Atlanta, where Adam lives and works, is a pretty humid place; this affects the paper's ability to hold the lead. The more humid it is, Adam will use a softer lead; less humid, harder lead. For pieces in which he is rendering entirely in pencil, Adam will use a variety of pencil lead hardness. For inking, Adam uses a size three Scharff brush and Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star Hi-Carb ink. To color, Adam uses Photoshop.
How does Adam create his color pieces in Photoshop?

We haven't had a chance to address this topic as of yet. We are hoping to try and capture each stage of Adam's creative process and do a tutorial when time allows. Not really sure when that will be.

Can we expect to see a hard cover book collecting Adam's artwork in the future?
One can always hope! But at this time, there are no solid plans for such a book.
What artists does Adam look at; who influences his work?

In comics, it would be Dave Stevens, Steve Rude and Kevin Nowlan. Other than that, classic American illustrators like Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish and Dean Cornwell. Pin Up legends Alberto Vargas and George Petty. And Art Nouveau front-man Alphonse Mucha. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

How much are Convention sketches?

Convention Sketches are $200 for a single character sketch. Sometimes Adam will decide a second character will enhance the piece; that is at his discretion. Sketches at the San Diego ComicCon International are a completely different situation, and will be priced accordingly.

Will a dealers badge increase my chances of getting a sketch?
NO. In fact, if you have a dealers badge, you will be banned from the sketch list. If you are seen at the table, or lurking the hall before any show opening, you will be denied a sketch. I know it sounds harsh and unfair, however we have been forced to make the decision by countless people abusing the dealer badge thing. If you are upset; take it out on them.
How many sketches does Adam usually complete at a show?
As of the update of this page, Adam is doing about 10 - 15 sketches during a two day show. It is no longer necessary to arrive early and wait in line for your name to be put on the list. Simply be at Adam's table or booth in the first 10 minutes of any show on the opening day. Adam will take all the names of all the fans in those first 10 minutes, Its usually about 40 people. Adam will then draw randomly from that list for the entire weekend.
What can I request in my sketch?
Please limit your request to single characters. Feel free to specify any details about their costumes or the era of a character you would like (golden age Wonder Woman, Alex Ross Wonder Woman armour, etc). Do not attempt to play "editor". That is to say; feel free to ask for a funny sketch, or a sexy sketch, but don't detail out the exact content of the piece. And lastly, all sketches these days are done in gray scale markers with occasional color at Adam's discretion. Please do not request color; and do not request pencil.
Is the commission list still closed?

Yes ...though we admire your persistence.
